A note on urban living*

Please note, our dogs will be coming to you from our rural shelter, located within the quiet and spacious grounds of a farm. As such, whilst we’re happy to consider people who live in urban areas, your home may be deemed unsuitable if it is in a highly-developed area with little access to open space.

In order to give your application the best possible chance of being taken forward, please demonstrate how you plan to provide sufficient access to open space, as well as ways of minimising stress that may be caused by crowds, traffic, etc. as your new dog settles in:

Your ability to care for a dog

Like all dogs, rescue dogs require time, patience and affection to help them thrive. We take our adoption responsibilities very seriously, and want to help ensure the best possible relationship between our dogs and their new adopters.

The following questions are designed to outline some of the considerations you should be aware of before committing to rescuing a dog. Whilst it's a hugely rewarding process, it's not always straight-forward: all dogs require time, patience and consistency to help them settle into a new home, and owning a dog is a lifetime commitment.

Training

All dogs require training to help them adjust to their new surroundings and interact safely and sociably with other dogs and humans. What training considerations would you make for your new dog?*

Would you consider hiring a behaviour professional if your dogs demonstrated behaviours you wished to correct? Have you considered the financial implications of this?*

Whilst we'll make sure we provide you with plenty of advice and support throughout the adoption process, our adopters must take full responsibility for their dog and commit to giving them the resources they need to thrive in their new home.

Any new dog may need training to overcome separation anxiety before they've learned to feel comfortable in a new home. What would you do if you came home after leaving your dog for an hour to find they had been chewing on an item of furniture?*
