The Adopter is fully responsible for the Dog in their entirety
Responsible ownership The Adopter agrees to keep the Dog as a pet and companion and not to abandon, trade, surrender to a shelter, give away or sell it; nor is the Dog to be used or sold for commercial use or research purposes. * Under no circumstance will the Dog be trained as an attack, guard, or fighting dog. * The Adopter agrees that they may not euthanise the Dog except in the case of the Dog’s terminal illness or injury, or old age accompanied by pain and suffering and in that case. The euthanasia must be performed by a licensed veterinarian, with the consent of Jai Dog Rescue. * The Adopter agrees to provide adequate food, water, exercise, and medical care at all times. The adopter commits to caring for the Dog in a devoted and humane manner for the remainder of its natural life. The Dog must live indoors and be treated as a member of the family. * The Adopter agrees to provide all necessary medical care to the Dog in a timely manner. The Adopter agrees to keep all vaccinations current and ensure the Dog receives preventative medication to protect against fleas, ticks & heartworm. *
In Thailand, each Jai Dog is given a thorough veterinary exam, updated vaccines, deworming and flea treatment whilst at the shelter (“The Farm”) and prior to travel to the UK. Each dog is treated for any medical needs. To the best of our knowledge, Jai Dog Rescue are giving you a healthy dog unless otherwise noted. Any health problems that may arise post adoption, including serious illness requiring emergency care or surgery is the Adopter’s responsibility and the adopter is responsible for all related costs.
Jai Dog Rescue recommends the Adopter to take out suitable pet insurance to help provide for the Dog in the case of all medical eventualities. * Provision of information While the Charity has made every effort to provide accurate history and assessment of the Dog, Jai Dog Rescue is not able to guarantee the Dog’s age, breed, medical status, or behaviour. The Adopter accepts the Dog as is with all traits either observable or unobservable, and assumes all risk for the Dog upon signing of this contract. *
Jai Dog Rescue makes no guarantees or statements regarding the Dog’s age, breed, health, or temperament.
The Dog’s microchip will be registered to Jai Dog Rescue, 103 Gaunt Street, London, SE1 6DP with the UK microchip database, Petlog. The Adopter is responsible for and agrees to reregister the Dog’s microchip number to the Adopter’s name and address 48 hours before the Dog’s arrival in order to officially change ownership of the Dog. The Adopter agrees to keep the Dog’s microchip details up to date and will inform Petlog regarding any changes of name or address. * It is a legal requirement that any dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address (including postcode) of the owner engraved or written on it, or engraved on a tag. The Adopter agrees that the Dog will always be wearing an identification tag with the Adopter’s full name, telephone number and current address. *
Jai Dog Rescue discourages the identification tag to include the Dog’s name, to avoid all possible chances of dog theft.
The Adopter will inform Jai Dog Rescue of any personal details that may have changed so that the Charity are able to update their internal records. * The Adopter confirms that they have disclosed any health issues that may hinder the ability of them caring and looking after a dog on a long-term and permanent basis, including both physical and mental conditions. In this instance, and where Jai Dog Rescue have agreed to proceed with the adoption, the Adopter has provided proof of provisions that are in place should the Adopter find it difficult to continue looking after the Dog. *
Please refer to our Anti-Discriminatory Policy for further information.

Please attach written proof of your landlord and/or rental agency's permission to keep a dog at your address
Bringing your dog home The Adopter understands that every animal is an individual and will need to be cared for and respected as an individual. All dogs’ needs and challenges are different. * Jai Dog Rescue takes all of their dogs through a period of socialisation training before arriving in the UK and it is important for adopters to keep training up in order to set the Dog up for success in their new environment. The Adopter agrees to contact a behaviourist should any behavioural issues arise (i.e. biting, destruction, escapism, fearfulness/anxiety, dominance) that might lead to abandonment of the Dog. *
The Charity encourages the Adopter to refer to the List of Behaviourists should professional guidance be required.
Should the Adopter have a resident dog, every attempt should be made to socialise the resident dog with the Jai Dog appropriately, once the Dog has settled in. Jai Dog Rescue encourage the use of baby gates during the socialisation and settling in period to allow for both dogs to have their own space and to prevent them from becoming overwhelmed I understand the need to introduce my dogs safely and will take all precautions to ensure that both new and established dogs are provided with the space, support and structure they need to establish a healthy relationship * The Adopter agrees to provide a clean, securely fenced and easily accessible private or communal area for the Dog. If a fenced enclosure is not available, the Adopter agrees to walk the Dog on a lead and the Dog should not be left outside unattended. Under no circumstances should the dog be kept outside on a runner, tie out system or electric fence. * Should the Adopter’s circumstances change suddenly prior to the Dog arriving and you are for any reason unable to take the dog in, the Charity should be made aware of this immediately. * Changes in circumstances
Your responsibility to The Dog in the event of a change of circumstances
The decision to relinquish any dog should not be taken lightly, and all reasonable mesures should be explored to allow for the Dog to settle into the home and work through any issues before the Adopter considers giving up responsibility for the Dog * Should the Adopter decide they are unable to keep the Dog for various reasons, and they are unable to secure a suitable alternative home*, the Adopter hereby agrees to return the Adoptee to the Charity.
