JAI DOG RESCUE x BATTERSEA
กุมภาพันธ์ 23, 2022
We’re incredibly proud to share the news that Jai Dog Rescue has teamed up with world-renowned animal charity Battersea in an ambitious 5 year project to transform the lives of street dogs here in Thailand.
THE PROBLEM AT HAND
There’s an estimated 8 million stray or semi-roaming dogs in Thailand: more than 80,000 in the central province of Nakhon Nayok alone where The Farm is based, and all of them have suffered a lifetime of hunger and neglect. Jai Dog Rescue has been working tirelessly to break this cycle of suffering but until now, we’ve not had the support needed to bring about large-scale change.
THE PARTNERSHIP
But together with Battersea, through this groundbreaking partnership, our two charities are aiming to neuter and vaccinate over 70,000 stray dogs over a period of 5 years, protecting these animals from disease and improving their life expectancy. The project seeks to reach those in greatest need, creating a life for stray dogs that allows them to experience a safe, stable, and pain-free existence whilst living harmoniously alongside the Thai community.
"We’re incredibly excited to embark on a new partnership with Jai Dog Rescue"
MOOK: ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES
The new partnership will help dogs like 3-year old Mook. When she lived on the streets, she was injected with birth control hormones by locals desperate to help by any means possible. After all, more puppies would mean more mouths to feed, more scuffles and skirmishes, and more barking at night. Sadly, their efforts resulted in an infected uterus that nearly killed Mook. She was lucky to survive, but tragically 80% of stray dogs in Thailand won’t live past adolescence.
“We are delighted to be working alongside Battersea to deliver such a monumental programme"
That’s why we’re so incredibly grateful to be teaming up with Battersea: as well as providing £1.8m funding to the project, Battersea will share its expertise in running trap, neuter, and release programmes to tackle stray dog and cat populations and setting up community engagement programmes to promote better relationships and safer interactions between people and dogs.
We can’t wait to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in to what’s sure to be a really exciting opportunity to bring about real, lasting change: we’d like to extend a huge thank you to the whole team at Battersea for sharing our mission to transform lives here in Thailand.
