Every Gift Helps Sumo Heal – Save His Eye

Because of supporters like you, dogs like Sumo are alive today. Thank you.

Just after being found near a temple, a young puppy was brought to us suffering with a serious eye infection and visible pain. We named him Sumo.

Sumo’s Story

Just after being found at Saga Ngam Temple, a young puppy was brought to us in severe pain from a badly infected eye. We named him Sumo.

At the temple, a kind monk had tried to help him by offering food. Sumo was so small he could sit atop the plate as he ate.

When he arrived, his right eye was badly swollen and bulging, with a severe infection. He was in obvious pain and had likely been suffering for some time.

His condition was critical. He was weak, underweight, and showing clear signs of infection and malnutrition.

Before any decision could be made about surgery, our priority was to stabilise him and control the infection.

Sumo received intensive daily treatment, including:

Antibiotics to treat the infection in his eye and body
Eye drops to keep the eye comfortable and protected
Nutritional food support to help him regain strength
• Careful daily monitoring from our veterinary team

As his condition slowly improved, it became clear just how much he had already endured.

His body had been severely weakened when he arrived, but with treatment and care, he steadily regained strength.

Sadly, the damage to his right eye was too severe to restore vision. However, his left eye is completely healthy, and he is able to see and live comfortably.

His injured eye will continue to be monitored closely. In the future, it may need surgical removal if it causes discomfort.
